design inspiration: connected by my brain

i would imagine to most of you these two disparate images are really not connected in any obvious way, but around here i am currently madly sketching away concepts for the fall collection. my inspiration, as i have mentioned here in previous posts, is jackie in india. this in turn makes me think about paisley and and rich colors, as well as super cool prep geometry. you do the math.

chevron crazy

thinking about my design inspiration for fall sent me off to the taj mahal where i found this incredible chevron wall. of course, this reminded me of the zig-zag craze that has been sweeping the design world for the past few seasons. i believe the obsession was most likely created by a combination of maddy weinrib's great rugs, and michelle adams' (of lonny mag) fabric being seen everywhere. could someone tell me why this pattern (which always reminds me of charlie brown) has such a grip on the minds of the design cognoscenti?

it's bold, it's simple, it gets it's message accross!

Jackie Kennedy in India 1962

it is time to start designing our fall/ winter 2010 collection and my flash of inspiration was in DC when i saw a charming book about Mrs. Kennedy traveling the globe. what can we say about jackie? she was so perfect. a true icon. genius. stay tuned for the jill rosenwald spin in the next several weeks. until then enjoy these photos from life magazine.
