last week style guru erin gates and photographer sarah winchester set up a very fun photo shoot at the studio.

we had been discussing the looks for months, and finally it was time to pull the trigger..and take the pix.

taking on a project like this is exciting, but it requires a ton of work, inspiration, and a complete vision.

i have to say..i was so impressed with everything these two put together.

doesn't the pottery look beyond delish? positively glowing.

one mellion dollahs

so yesterday i got an email from elle decor reminding me to tune in to the bravo show..million dollar decorators.i admit, that i really had not put the "event" into my i cal, but once reminded i did get excited. but then i learned from our friend erin gates (elements of style) that the show had premiered the night before! whaaaaa? yeesh.
i read with interest erin's post about the show, and to say the least she was saddened and disgusted. it turns out the show features many of her most favey decorating stars, and they turn out to be heinous humans.
are we surprised? i mean this is bravo's strong suit. taking people out of context and making them look like selfish, spoiled, outrageous morons.
this is otherwise known in the biz as good tv. the people..they lovdore this chazzerrai.
my big burning question is that if these designers truly are stars, why on earth would they choose to build their brands through a show destined to make them look like douches. are they deluded? have they never seen one of the other bravo shows that focus on individual talents? or are they so ridiculously narcissistic that they believe they will be made to look positive on their own show.
it would certainly be a first.

oy with the mugs!

studiomate, friend and musey mentor erin gates just posted this chevron mug on her popular blog-elements of style. we made the mug for erin as a prezzie because she is the reason we ever did the chevron style in the first place..we resisted..she insisted! well people..the same with the mugs. for years they have been asking for mugs..no no we say! the mug is a h-u-g-e pain to make..oy with the shape..the smallness..and don't get me started on that stupid handle! trust me. so with that i challeneged her to post the mug and the very high price tag of $80 dollars..and a new star was born. that's all i'm gonna say...

friday, january 28th we were madly rushing to load up our van and high tail it to NYC to set up for the gift show..but we had urgent last minute design tweaks on the brain..

our friend elements of style blogger erin had mentioned that it would be killer if we used an Ikat print on one of our shades for lawrence's chalet lamp. she also mentioned that her friend donna of Fabricadabra had the perfect print..and might be able to jet us over a few samples..

and that is exactly what happened! we got the fabric on friday afternoon, and as we were madly packing boxes..jessica handily set up to glue the lovely charcoal and white silk ikat to the shade.

the result is "bananas!" according to ms.gates..and all i know is that they went ape for it at the gift show! merci beaucoup..donna and erin!!
