emerald green

ever since pantone announced that emerald green was to be the 2013 color of the year..

i remembered that this color was soo on my radar..because of this pic of kayce hughes' daughter in her kitchen!

and then i realized..

someone else had been sayin' it for a while!

i mean..it is stunning..no?

though not always the easiest color to decorate around..it is a showstopper..right?

props to michelle,not only is she a brilliant first lady, but she sure knows how to wear a dress..i think she looks stunning here at the recent state dinner..do not listen to the haters..you are the bomb.

new discovery: jules reid

thanks to the wondrous internet, i have just discovered jules reid (same initials..i know!!!) who is a fashion designer based out of both NYC and virginia. i have to say i love her colorful style and carefree use of what looks like her own original prints.
after looking at the styles on her site..it seems like ol' jules and jill are on the same design page, getting inspiration from among others, jackie o, india & Pucci..the big 3 as we like to say around here!
i have been know to wear some craaazy pants in my day..and these would fit right into the collection..
the ikat print above is just dynomite.
and this one just screams.."chablis anyone?"
ps. she is rocking some amazing big jewelry in her lookbook..but (wah!) there is no mention of it on the site..hey jules..where m'i gonna get me some of those jewels?

oh i just can't take it! the guy is too too good for words. what can i say JA i am humbled in your presence and in awe of your megalomania. ps. the guy dresses just like this!

Carrie is back

thanks to erin of elements of style i got to watch this over the weekend..i have to admit when i saw the ugly poster of the movie at the theatre i was so underwhelmed..but after this trailer i have giggled myself sick. how do we love thee, carrie, samantha, charlotte, and cynthia nixon!? and now with them dropping the aidan bomb..fantastique! michael patrick king really is a genius. and don’t you just love the fact that a great marriage dies in just 2 years! Fashion and Forever..means one day you’re in and the next you’re out!

cuna commotion

i stopped in my tracks yesterday when i saw this image of a cuna women of panama wearing "molas". i had never seen these incredible textiles, and particularly the way that this woman has combined hers. cary wolinsky is the photographer who caught this on film and he will be having an exhibition at the south shore art center "the fiber of life" starting on november 6th. i am going.

J. Crew on fire

thanks to brilliant merchant mickey drexler, ( formerly of the gap) j. crew is having a major renaissance. mr. drexler has been able to take a brand that was looking so tired..with all it's khakis and polo shirts, and refreshed it in such a great way, without walking away from its customer. we all know the j. crew girl..she is kate spade's little sister, preppy and stylish, classic, but doesn't mind getting her hands (a bit) dirty.

i love the way they are using basics like jeans and jackets, and spicing them up with great accessories like big jewelry, fun ruffles, and funky styling. it really could make a girl want to go shopping again!

can ochre cords make you blonde?

stopped by the studio yesterday with THE cutest cords on that she got from the gap. the best part about them she said was that suddenly guys were saying hello to her, and totally checking her out! so she said to me, "now i know what it feels like to be a blonde!..you know boys..yellow up here (pointing to her head) or down here (at the pants)..they're thinking blonde!" needless to say she is a brunette. and now i am thinking... these have GOT to be a better deal than foils..i know..right?

Fabby cords for Fall

Last winter i lucked out on this great discovery, and so i thought i would pass on the tip to you. dELiAs the store and catalog for tweens has an amazing cord that seems to fit and look good on just about everyone! i got 2 pairs, one in tomato..love..and one in lime, and i wore them non stop. they are cute, cozy and comfy, and come in a 28" inseam for super shorties like moi..fantastic the price is great as well..2 pairs for under $70! what 2 colors do i get next?
