burgundy?

i am not sure what happened to me..perhaps i am just a complete fashion victim.

but ever since ms elements of style herself erin gates mentioned it

i have done a complete 180 on burgundy..that loathsome color..is now so totally on my radar.

i never had a problem with this:

it was this kind of sad decor that made me weary..

                                                               but then came this!!
                                                   and now everything has changed!!

it doesn't hurt that all the best designers are using it on their already amazing products..in as many amazing shades..

j'adore Moonrise Kingdom

recently i went to see Moonrise Kingdom..Wes Anderson's new movie.

i had been wanting to go all summer.

it took forever to get there, but despite my anticipation,  the movie did not disappoint.

i am not sure how to put this..but i am in love with the look of these movies...and i know i am not alone.

wes is super particular about the art direction of his films.  i know he built the house "set" inside an empty linens and things...so he was able to control eeevery detail.  this space is a fave...let me count the ways.  the braided rug, the record player, the collared yellow dress,  plaid lunch box, sailing themed drapes..window seat..ucchh..perfection.

don't get me started on the colors and the badges and patches on these scout uniforms.  yum.

make believe books..you wish you could read aloud to your kids.

isn't bob balaban's outfit just amazing?  LL Bean Shoe Boots...these were HUGE in '78..fingerless gloves..come on!

obsessed with soko

after hearing her voice in a pared down daniel johnson-esque arrangement accompanied by the ukelele on a lovely kate spade video (7 henrietta street), i grew posessed by the french singer soko.  she is that perfect mixture of talent and crazy.  jadore.

                                                     her song i'll kill her just kills ME.

what is there to say?

the big accessory piece is a must.

maybe it says glitzy a little loud..but je t'aime that.

a couple of years back, i participated in a special event at a yacht club on the cape.

i was struck by the uniformity of personal style among the members of the club..

it was as if there was a list in the dressing rooms.

anyhew..it turns out that their style struck and stuck.

now i want to be just like them.
