{half the sky} documentary

last night i watched the moving and unforgettable PBS documentary Half The Sky by  the NYT duo Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.

the tagline of the film is "turning oppression into opportunity for women worldwide".  and i hope that they will do.  meanwhile, the film that is based on a book of the same title depicts the lives of women and giirls  around the world who are struggling/suffering in their lives with the sometimes unbearable things that they have borne for generations.

watch it if you can ..it is available online til oct.8th!

sienna farms

one of the great pleasures of living in our fair city of boston is the plethora of farmers markets..
in fact, i work by one in dewey square, and live by the copley market!  one lucky lady.
the other day i could not stop about getting there on time..i just had to have some tomatoes from sienna farms for my supper.  oh sienna farms..you're going to make me a country mouse...well not really.
but seriously, this farm's produce rocks my world..everything not only looks delicious..it is delicious..and that's saying something.

do i need to say more?  gorge-y!

oh yes..i do.  they opened a shop of their own in the south end.  i am going to have to go there and see it for myself!

High Lawn Dairy

lately we have been only going to Barrington accross the street for our coffee..even though we have a whole lot of choices.  as soon as, lawrence said it was like drinking candy..i was sold!
the barristas at Barrington said it was the milk from high lawn dairy in lee mass that made all the difference..and though i am not sure..looking at the dairy's website, and all the testimonials..you start to think..maybe there's something to all the stuff about chemical/hormone free/grass fed rhetoric.
i mean the taste is unbelievable.  in fact, it makes all the other ice lattes in town taste like..you know..nothing good.

oh high lawn dairy..you've ruined me forever.
