maniac for monograms

everyone it seems wants us to monogram something for them these days. and because it is so darn popular..i find myself wanting to monogram something for myself..like linen pillow shams perhaps...
i mean who is going to argue with this?
and you know how it goes..like in high school,
when you see something over and over again..
even if at first you hated it (like LL bean boot/shoes for me)
after a while you don't think you are going to be able to breathe until you get those darn boot/shoes in your life.
but as with all things like this..after acquiring the coveted item there is a grave danger of buyer's remorse..could this happen with lovely linen? hmm?

ivy and piper june /july issue

about a month ago this lovely australian mag asked me if i wanted to do an interview for their june/july issue..and so i said yesss!this morning it showed up in my in box, and now i have just finished leafing through the whole thing.

i was delighted that my most favorite australian shop (and the only one that carries our pottery) magnolia was featured in the same issue!
well la dee dah!

one mellion dollahs

so yesterday i got an email from elle decor reminding me to tune in to the bravo show..million dollar decorators.i admit, that i really had not put the "event" into my i cal, but once reminded i did get excited. but then i learned from our friend erin gates (elements of style) that the show had premiered the night before! whaaaaa? yeesh.
i read with interest erin's post about the show, and to say the least she was saddened and disgusted. it turns out the show features many of her most favey decorating stars, and they turn out to be heinous humans.
are we surprised? i mean this is bravo's strong suit. taking people out of context and making them look like selfish, spoiled, outrageous morons.
this is otherwise known in the biz as good tv. the people..they lovdore this chazzerrai.
my big burning question is that if these designers truly are stars, why on earth would they choose to build their brands through a show destined to make them look like douches. are they deluded? have they never seen one of the other bravo shows that focus on individual talents? or are they so ridiculously narcissistic that they believe they will be made to look positive on their own show.
it would certainly be a first.

the beautiful berkshires

lawrence and i were married at gedney farm in new marlbourough massachusetts, and if you want to know the honest truth, i think it was the wedding of the century.truly the bershires are magical, and new marlbourough is one of the most perfect places i have ever been. the barn below is where we had our celebration, and i will never forget it.
this past weekend my family and some special friends got together, and rented a house near a lake in Otis. for an adventure we decided to go for a hike in the 1000 acre swamp, and we were able to stop by new marlborough. there on the green is the classic new england church where we had our ceremony, and the old inn which is a very romantic place to stop for a dinner that you can enjoy entirely by candlelight.
after we got lost in the swamp..(i kept humming the theme from gilligan's island) we stopped for snacks at the nearby southfield store.

the place has really spiffed itself up in the past few years, and signigficantly changed itself from the special grocery store it once was.
now it boasts a small cafe and restaurant, and though we were only able to have some snacks there i think it would be well worth a return trip so that we could stop by for a real meal.
can you say charming?

expletive overload

i come from a long line of women who curse..well to be honest..not my ladylike grandmother dorothy..but most certainly both of my mothers love/d a good curse word..or maybe a whole long string of them. so let's just say i am no stranger to the f bomb. but i think am through. cee lo green's song "forget you" was a fave until i heard the real thing. (ok so i am out of it..i had no idea the song was really called "F You") i blithely was listening to it on my beloved pandora the other day when i was shocked to learn the real lyrics. wah. i think "forget you" is so so much more charming and smart. wah. everywhere i go in my daily life i am confronted by trashy talkers..and i begin to notice how yucky it is when i am listening to it with my kids. why should i be surprised? look what's on the box? mob wives is essentially a show about lady wrestlers/roller derby queens..taking their fights into the dining room/living room. awesome.
so i am trying to go on an expletive diet. wish me luck.

in love with: {Atelier halo}

i just discovered this website. ouch.somehow there is perfect logic that the color/pattern queen would fall madly in love with fanny cavin's magical porcelain.
so simple.
so lovely.
quiet and delicate.
i need it. i want it. i gotta have it.
