emerald green

ever since pantone announced that emerald green was to be the 2013 color of the year..

i remembered that this color was soo on my radar..because of this pic of kayce hughes' daughter in her kitchen!
and then i realized..

someone else had been sayin' it for a while!

i mean..it is stunning..no?

though not always the easiest color to decorate around..it is a showstopper..right?

[see..been there]

i love when you realize that it is everywhere..

repeat after me..emerald..emerald..emerald..say it enough and soon you'll love it too!

yup..did it at my house too! (Ben Moore Four Leaf Clover!]
{please don't judge..we are a work in progress.}

oh my living room!

my friend and decorator chris b.(though that is not his real profession) tells me that if people really knew how i lived, there would be shouting in the streets..something like.."you are a sham and a fraud jill r."

because if the truth were revealed..the people..they would see that i am just a harried housewife..looking to pull a look together..but not quite getting it right all the time!  oy with the time/effort/shekels/expertise a girl can't always git what she wants..right?

having said that..we are finally getting it together (fingers crossed) here at chez lawrence et jill..having just purchased these adorbs chairs..that we hope will go with all the pillows we have collected..and the new jill r. hex rug we just laid down..a little koookay..but that's moi..and hey i AM going for genius after alls!

what is next i'm afraid is another paint conundrum..oh to find the perfect shade of pale blue grey..below is stonington from benjamin moore..but the ones below are a mystere..

thoughts?  advice?

dining room DIY paint project!

here is an old photo of our dining room looking at it from straight on..the walls are painted a pale color from Pratt and Lambert..i think it might be Catawba Grape..and we are tiiiiiired of looking at it.

 don't get me wrong..it has been a great color for us..fun and happy and bright..and not cloying..but i have been ob-sessing over painting a new shade of happy kelly-ish/apple green for a while now..
and so this is what we (really just lawrence who will be doing ALL the work) did to it this weekend!  on the top is kiwi by ben moore..on the left is..can't remember ( i will get back to you on this)  and on the right our clear winner..four leaf clover..also Benjamin Moore)!  i realize how risky a color this is..but i wanted to try something fun and crazy thinking it will be genius!  but trust me i am worried.  wait til later this week..and i will send you the image of the completed space..keep your fingers crossed.

hallway paint chosen {benjamin moore iceberg}

we finally decided on a paint color for the hallway, after way too much wringing of hands.
..and the color is..iceberg!
even though i spent many hours determined to use a wonderful watery turquoise-ish tiffany blue. (blue seafoam BM)
in the end, i felt it would not bring joy to our dark hallway, but rather it would have the opposite effect, and be cloying and nasty minus the ocean breezes that should accompany a paint of this quality.
i also spent a bit of time flirting with a hot pink..(razzle dazzle BM)
sunny glazed yellow (showtime by BM)
and calming urban greys..but ultimately i am hoping that iceberg will capture all that i am looking for in a paint for our dark and un windowed space..bright, happy, sophisticated, calm..you think?
