project runway finalists

Mila's amazing sparkly dress
emilio sosa's gown
seth aaron's prep/punk coat

I have been watching this season of project runway with a bit of the bittersweet because although i do love the show, these have not been my favorite designers. I am kind of missing "Mr. Fierce" Christian Siriano, despite the fact that the j'adorable southern charmer Anthony Williams has been adding a major dose of hilarity. Now that I have seen some of the finalists collections in this online sneak peak I continue to be underwhelmed. Oh well. I still love you PR.

rodarte

the mulleavy sisters are an interesting pair. they make objects of desire that have left the fashion world a bit discombobulated. anna wintour love love loves them..and that can't hurt. i can't tell whether i like the clothing to wear it or to hang it, but most certainly it is different than what has come before. i am particularly fond of the tribal style arm tatoos the girls have chosen to decorate their models with.

valentino crush

The other night i watched the movie VALENTIONO THE LAST EMPEROR BY Matt Tyrnauer and it was a total treat. I think I was first made aware of the designer's genius when Julia Roberts walked the red carpet in that unforgettable black dress with the iconic "Y" neckline. But it was not until I watched this wonderful film that i got the full sense of the scope of Valentino's career. the man is a total design icon, a brilliant couturier, and someone whose time sadly enough has passed. The movie is a fly on the wall look at the designer's last year designing couture for the company. As viewers, we get to see how the clothes are made truly by hand, each dress representing hundreds of hours of labor. It is a poignant, touching, and fascinating watching a master at the height of his craft simultaneously realizing that he has reached the end of the road.

preppytown

i have been thinking a lot about my spring collection for 2010, and my big idea is super prep style. this is a look i have never truly explored( except for a short stop in lily pulitzer town), and i have gotten so excited poking around the internet for some prepster heroes..the reigning queen of course being tory burch. tory loves herself some super bright colors, and i am loving the navy and poppy orange she is often wont to use. in addition to mademoiselle burch i am surfing some other mainstays of the modern prep such as prints from ms. ck bradley and the must have goyard tote! next stop ikats and suzanis.

love the coat tory burch!

what can i say? loved it..and you cannot see the gold buttons, but they added just the right amount of glitz to the ensemble..the bag was terrific too. seen at flour bakery in fort point.

cibeline at design salon!

last night cibeline, the boston fashion designer, hosted the design salon in her amazing store at 120 charles st. what a hot ticket she was! now hear this people, she designs all her garments and has them made in massachusetts..no lie! she loves putting a woman into pieces that make her look and feel great. so she said, "if we can get her into the dressing room, we know she is going to leave here with an outfit!"
cibeline's grandmother, who taught her to sew, said that a garment should feel and look good from the inside out, and so with that in mind, one of cibeline's signatures are the delicious linings she puts in all her pieces. last night she showed us the pink charmeuse inside her slacks and said, "every time you undress, you get a little treat!"
